Some candidates get squeezed out by bigger factions. Some get fast-tracked past every checkpoint that should've caught trouble first. Same missing infrastructure, two different failures.

I’m not saying that *every* candidate needs to be an outsider - not hardly. Some districts and cities and states *need* and are best represented by centrists/moderates

Some districts and cities *need* the fire brought by a genuine outsider
And yah, vetting absolutely still needs to happen
But the DNC as it sits today has shown itself utterly incapable of doing so (not vetting, not supporting, not having a clue how to respond) for anyone who doesn’t emerge from the machine
What really fucking bugs me are all the “Well, look at Roy Cooper, and Sherrod Brown, and Jon Ossoff, and even Talarico in Texas. Those are normal centrists, and they are leading. Michigan is too important to risk a DSA backed candidate that hasn’t shown an ability to beat a Republican.”
Bitch please, if you’re so terrified of your own shadow, that you want to prevent that very test to be run, then just shut the fuck up. You just want your Republican-lite barely-Democrat candidates that don’t freak you out.

The things that really bug the fuck out of me by the Never Trumpers (aka “former” Republicans) is that they like to point at people like Abdul el Sayed and recoil, and they then think that offering a mealy “mid” candidate like Mallory McMorrow (no shade on her, the rant that launched her career was chef’s kiss perfection) is enough to temper the Democrat base voters who are eager for a change.
What they don’t realize is that those warmed over, steam-table veggies isn’t going to excite the voters, and they are stunned that this magic “middle” that they truly believe is what America is turns out to be vapor.
This anonymized person is Mona Charen of The Bulwark. Last week I read the first thing from her all year (I avoid her and Cathy Young like the plague) and I was just floored at her hair on fire rhetoric.
Charen’s writing during the Obama administration was really fucking bad, and she hasn’t ever atoned for that, so fuck her. But this is not an uncommon take on that Never Trump ecosystem.
