Donny slides his phone across the lane like it’s evidence. “Dude, check this out.” First thought, no joke, has to be a joke. Some parody site running the same URL scam as the fake DMV renewal pages that get your card number. Then the address bar says whitehouse.gov, plain as the rug used to be, and the rug is still gone, and now there’s a Snake game where the whole point is helping Homeland Security do headcount.

Five games total. Wall Tetris. A Trump savings piggy bank. School lunch sorting. A bald eagle carrying a bill over the Mall like it’s late for something. And the one everybody’s actually talking about, a straight-up Snake clone, except the dots you’re eating are people, rendered in little pixel outfits with different skin tones, gathered up along a fence line. That’s not a metaphor doing some work. That’s the literal mechanic.

Walter’s not bowling anymore. Walter’s standing. “This is not ‘Nam, man. This is Snake. There are rules, and rule number one is you do not reskin a fuckin’ public domain arcade mechanic as a goddamn deportation simulator and then act shocked when Tetris’s actual legal department puts out a goddamn statement.” He’s right about that part, mostly. Tetris did go on the record. “We take copyright infringement very seriously,” seven words, cold as a February patrol shift, and Walter reads it out loud twice like it’s scripture.

Donny, still holding his ball, asks the only real question in the room. “Are the little guys, like, people? Real people?” Nobody answers him directly, which is its own answer.

Maude has the numbers, delivered the way she delivers everything, like she’s reading a lab report to someone who fainted at the sight of blood. Median home price around four hundred thirty thousand dollars. Groceries roughly thirty percent above where they sat in twenty twenty. Gas about forty five percent higher than the twenty twenty average, even after easing off the recent peak. Against that backdrop, a White House official told a reporter the arcade exists to contrast a culture of fun and winning against what the official called the dark socialist vision Democrats have for America, nine words, and Maude lets that sit in the room a second before going back to her tea.

The Dude thinks about the rug. Not as a bit, as a unit. The rug tied the room together and some fascist violated it and there was never any restitution, just a long tab and worse carpet. A whole federal website went up this week, coded, hosted, apparently play tested, and it doesn’t tie one single thing together. It’s just somebody’s Rio Grande fed through a Nokia Snake engine, a bald eagle late for a floor vote, and Trump savings account confetti, and no rug anywhere in the metaphor gets replaced.

Walter wants to file something. A complaint, a brief, a grievance with a federal agency, he’s not sure which one yet, he just knows somebody should have to answer for it under oath. Donny asks if they’re still bowling. Walter tells him he’s out of his fucking element, Donny, again, same as always, and somehow that lands more honestly than anything on the arcade’s About page.

The Dude doesn’t have a thesis. He’s not going to pretend the internet inventing a new low is a new low, because he watched this exact country do worse with better production values back when he had different hair and a felony he’d rather not discuss. He’s just going to note, out loud, to nobody, that they built a whole arcade and somehow still made a worse game than the one that already exists for free on every dead Nokia in America.

He’s hungry. That’s the whole review.
